Malipiero House

Standing on the Foresto Vecchio near the Church of San Gottardo is the house where composer Gianfrancesco Malipiero (Venice 1882-Asolo 1973) lived for nearly fifty years. It is characterised by small rooms furnished with severe furniture made of dark wood. Striking are the collections of butterflies and insects as well as the antiques the composer loved to collect. Today the building is the headquarters of the Foundation bearing the Master’s name with the aim of preserving his memory. Behind the house one can walk along a path to the cave where Malipiero wanted to be buried.
