AN ITINERARY AMONG THE CURIOSITIES
- Piazza Brugnoli in ancient times this was a place set aside for the Roman baths. It is still possible to see its layout marked by cubic stones used for road pavements in pink rustic masonry. On the same square, to the northeast it is possible to see the last stretch of the Roman aqueduct.
- In via Browning, one of the bearing columns of the arches in the Martinelli-Polo mansion, bears a commemorative plaque to the terrible earthquake of Santa Costanza in 1695.
- A modern pub on the ground floor of the so called Casa Gotica on the corner between via Dante and via Roma, keeps a sign of the Late Roman house constructed on a pre-existing paleovenetian settlement.
- Under the Loggia della Ragione in Piazza Maggiore, several stones commemorate the presence of an old Jewish community wiped out in an atrocity in 1547; the Jewish ghetto is to be found in via Belvedere.
- The Duse tomb:: the Sant' Anna cemetery contains the tomb of the great actress set in a heart-shaped frame.
