The handicraft workshops under the porticoes and around its squares tell us of a past history and the current face of the city, of ancient knowledge and the colours of surrounding nature: fabrics and embroidery, hand-painted ceramics and antique furniture. These are productive activities with a very long tradition that still nowadays are given over to preserving their original nature such as to be well-known in Italy and abroad.

-   One of the oldest craft centres is the Tessoria Asolana, a hand weaving workshop which has been making unique, high-quality fabrics since the nineteenth century and today still uses the nineteenth century looms.

-   The Embroidery School is another Asolan business that has an age old tradition: the skillful hands of the embroiders make linen, lace and artistic ornaments using Ancient techniques.

-   The artistic ceramics add colour to the shop windows in the form of the most beautiful vases, the good luck suns, the plates, the finely painted cups.

-   Antiques are one of the traditional vocations of the city which in addition to the usual events with the antiques market, offers furniture, pictures, jewelry from centuries gone by in the many antiques galleries under the porticoes and in the squares of the city centre.
